| This group is an affiliate of Cameron Sinclar's and Kate Stohr's organization of Architecture for Humanity in San Francisco. We were inspired by the national chapter's work, lectures, and writings, and embarked on creating this Seattle chapter in October 2007 with their help and support along with the help and support of other local chapters around the country. We started out working to improve the built environment locally working with other non-profits like Tent City in Seattle. We spent the first two years with a lot of small group hands-on projects while incorporating socially and environmentally responsible design. As we embark on a new chapter of the Seattle AFH chapter, we've decided to take a more theoretical approach to socially and sustainable design and focus on design competitions. While we're always looking for new members and welcome people of all skill levels and a variety of interests and background. If you'd like to join or have a project that you think we could help you with, feel free to email us or come to our next meeting! |
